This will make it possible for those wishing to participate in the event, on October 8, to apply on line. “Having this website will make it possible for us to get application from anywhere in the country together with outside, efficiently and quickly,” one of the festival organisers, Shabani Ramadhani Hamisi, told the ‘Daily News’ yesterday.
He also explained that WMS was intentionally introduced to the local arts calendar, especially to provide a platform for up-coming local performing artists to present themselves and art.
Another intention behind the introduction of this event, he added is to identify able groups for the yearly SMF, which is held within the Biafra grounds, off Kawawa Road, in the Kinondoni Municipality.
The ‘Daily News’ had met Hamisi and other members of the Marahaba Band going through their final rehearsals, at the Music Mayday premises in Mikocheni for tonight’s show.
These WMS, which are held on every third Wednesday of the month, present a perfect opportunity for the Marahaba band’s drummer and another founder member, JafaryNassoro Bandukine, to polish his skills.
He also told the ‘Daily News’ it presents a perfect platform for him to expand his musical experience, just from watching and hearing other musicians present their repertoire.
This is why he looks forward to tonight’s show with much pleasant anticipations. Amongst the line-up for tonight’s event are Lumumba Theatre, Dar Creators, Sinza Segere, Ima Mupao Jazz and the Marahaba Band.
